Description

In his journey through the Harz Mountains, Heinrich Heine was already enchanted by the place: “…where Osterode with its red roofs peeps out of the green fir forests like a moss rose…”.

Here in this “moss rose” a new building with six 4-room flats and 7 parking spaces has been completed. The flats have either large kitchens or separate kitchens. Combined with the terraces and balconies, the flats offer families in particular a high quality of living.

The beautiful apartment building is situated in a quiet location close to nature in Osterende. In the village itself there are all the necessary facilities for daily life, such as schools, day-care centres, shopping facilities, doctors and pharmacies.  The location in the metropolitan region of Hanover-Braunschweig-Göttingen offers the potential for good rentability and value development.

Location

Osterode am Harz is a medium-sized town and independent municipality in the south-east of Lower Saxony in the district of Göttingen on the south-western edge of the Oberharz. Currently 22,000 inhabitants live in the town. Several federal roads run through Osterode. The B 243, which has been upgraded to resemble a motorway, opens up the western and southern Harz region with connections to the A7 motorway near Seesen and the A38 motorway near Nordhausen; traffic from the Erfurt area flows along it towards northern Germany. The B 241 connects the Solling with the Harz – in the narrower sense Northeim with Goslar – and has four lanes in the city area. Furthermore, the B 498 begins in Osterode, which also leads to Goslar on a different route via Altenau.

Osterode lies on the Herzberg-Seesen railway line, which leads to Braunschweig without changing trains. In November 2004, the town received two new stops for about one million euros, replacing the previous stations and improving the quality of public transport through a more central location; they are also closer to the vocational schools. The former Osterode (Harz) station (which was built as a classic station with a waiting hall, ticket sales and a station restaurant) and the Osterode Süd stop were eliminated.

Osterode am Harz is one of the medieval towns along the German Half-Timbered Houses Route. Favoured by natural beauty, cultural and urban history, it is nestled in a mountainous forest landscape and is an ideal starting point for a wide range of activities. The historic half-timbered town with its buildings, churches and towers along the town wall invites you to linger in one of the cosy town cafés and restaurants.

Osterode am Harz is a medium-sized centre with about 23,000 inhabitants in the district of Göttingen and the administrative centre of parts of the district administration, the Federal Employment Agency and the land registry office. The economic structure is traditionally industrial: 35 % of employees work in the manufacturing industry.

Osterode am Harz has a long tradition as a manufacturing location. Today, well-known companies produce here with a focus on medical technology, plastics processing and mechanical engineering.

The town is interesting for the tourism industry because of its location on the northernmost low mountain range – many sights and excursion destinations can be reached from here in a short time.
